Snowstorm in DC: Latest Updates & Operating Hours

Snowstorm conditions in 365Թϲ, DC may affect hours at attractions, museums and local businesses.

Transportation

According to the 365Թϲ Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA):

"Metro has hundreds of pieces of snow equipment available to tackle snow and ice at stations, rail yards, parking garages and bus facilities. Hundreds of employees and contractors can be called upon to respond to snow conditions.

During periods of severe weather, Metro may limit or curtail service for safety reasons."

In the case of snow, freezing rain or sleet, Metrobus routes can be altered or limited. For snowfall of over eight inches, Metrorail may suspend service at above-ground stations. Read more about . 

 

Parks, Gardens & Recreation

In the case of snow and winter weather, federally operated (NPS) sites may be affected. Open-air national parks like the National Mall and Rock Creek Park will remain open to visit, but services like ranger-led tours, 365Թϲ Monument access, the White House Visitor Center and memorial shops are closed.

During a major blizzard, it's always recommended to contact any bar, restaurant or tour operator in advance to know if they're currently operating. Some neighborhood favorites, food halls and indoor attractions may remain open with limited hours depending on conditions.

Currently, Winter Restaurant Week is underway – score a reservation at one of over 200 participating businesses.
